Girona have announced attacker Portu has avoided serious injury.

In the final minutes of their 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid, Portu was on the wrong end of an ugly challenge from Nacho.

The Real defender was sent off for his actions, which saw Portu rushed to hospital in the aftermath. Nacho and Real coach Carlo Ancelotti have since apologised for the tackle.

Girona have announced Portu suffered some minor damage to his ankle and a bruised backside from his fall. As such, there is confidence he will be only weeks on the sidelines.

Officially, Girona confirmed the player had suffered a "bone edema in the tibial malleolus of the right ankle and rupture of the left gluteal fascia".
