AC Milan's West Brom, QPR target Essien not close to Premier League comeback - agent

Michael Essien will not be returning to the Premier League this winter according to his agent Fabien Piveteau.

The 32-year old AC Milan midfielder was the subject of interest from Burnley and Leicester City while West Bromwich Albion and QPR recently had bids turned down.

Former Chelsea ace Essien departed Stamford Bridge for Milan in January 2014 and after close to a decade with the Blues will not be playing for an English rival confirms Piveteau.

"What are the chances of Essien leaving in January? It's difficult, we'd prefer to respect the contract until June," he told Calciomercato.com.

"Essien will not play in the Premier League for any club other than Chelsea, his former team. We had offers from West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers but we refused.

"If we were to get an appropriate offer from a club which is not in the Premier League we'd accept.

"However, it remains difficult to leave Milan in January, because our intention is to comply with the contract he has with the Rossoneri."
