Wellington Phoenix keen on Newcastle Jets attacker Brockie

Wellington Phoenix head coach Ricki Herbert admits he is interested in signing Newcastle Jets forward Jeremy Brockie.

The 24-year old New Zealand international had a solid season for the Jets, scoring nine goals in 27 appearances, and is now attracting attention from his homeland.

Brockie, who is back home in Nelson preparing for his wedding, is currently out of contract and Phoenix boss Herbert, who doubles as the striker's All Whites manager, admits he is keen on bringing him to Westpac Stadium.

"He's a great kid and he's done fantastically well. So if we can come to some sort of agreement, I don't think we'd be too far away," Herbert told au.fourfourtwo.com.

"Hopefully in Jeremy's mind, we are the main team that he's looking at to join."
