Krul excited about return of Newcastle's Fabregas-like de Jong

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul was enthusiastic when talking about the impending return of Siem de Jong.

The Dutch attacking midfielder has had a difficult beginning to life at St James' Park, making just three appearances since his £6million move from Ajax last summer.

Foot and thigh injuries have kept the six-time Holland international out of the Magpies line-up but he is on the road to recovery and Krul is eagerly anticipating the comeback of his fellow countryman who has the ability to open up a game in the same manner as Chelsea star Ces Fabregas.

"Siem can bring a bit of quality in the final third of the pitch," Krul told the Chronicle.

"He's a great finisher, especially when he plays just behind the striker. He's amazing, really smart. He just takes up the right positions.

"De Jong's a little bit like Fabregas in that respect - he can get on the ball and make things happen. He's also got goals in him, and we need that."
