Ex-PEC coach Van 't Schip warns Liverpool: Van den Berg not new Beckenbauer

Former PEC Zwolle coach John van 't Schip has questioned Sepp van den Berg's move to Liverpool.

Van 't Schip worked with the 17 year-old at PEC last year.

"But the question is of course whether Liverpool is a good step for Sepp. Time will have to tell," he said.

“Look, those clubs are just investing in talent. Ajax gets Christian Eriksen and Vaclav Cerny and then let them mature further in their own youth.

Liverpool buys five, six players and actually only one has to make it. The others can probably be traded again. Sepp will definitely not be taken for the basis of the first, but is a boy where they hope it is a bull's-eye.

“Sepp is not the new Franz Beckenbauer. That's not fair to say either. If he had been with Ajax, he probably would not have played in the first. He was given the opportunity at PEC and he did well."
