Ex-Derby boss Rooney wanted at DC United

Former Derby County boss Wayne Rooney is being linked with DC United.

The Manchester United great had a spell as a player with the MLS team.

DC United have sacked head coach Hernan Losada in April and placed Chad Ashton in interim charge. The Daily Mail says Rooney is open to returning to the USA to continue his coaching career.

The former Everton captain resigned from Derby at the end of last season after their relegation to League One.

Rooney had a successful two-year spell with the Washington based side where he scored 25 goals in 52 games and energised the franchise but his family struggled to settle prior to their move back to England with Derby County.
