Sunderland boss Gus Poyet isn't giving up on signing Fiorentina fullback Marcos Alonso.
Despite signing Patrick van Aanholt from Chelsea last week - Poyet has not given up hope of prising left-back Alonso away from Fiorentina.
"If you asked me before pre-season started if I wanted to left footed left-backs, I would have said no.
"Now if Alonso becomes on loan for free then we would probably take him. We need another full-back, the idea is one who can play right and left or with Billy (Jones) covering," he told the Evening Chronicle.
