Newcastle United will look to acquire Ross Barkley even if they sign Joe Willock this summer.

Chelsea midfielder Barkley is at a crossroads after spending last season on loan at Aston Villa.

According to The Athletic, Toon are monitoring the situation as they look to bolster their midfield this summer.

Their number one target remains Willock, who was on loan from Arsenal for the second half of last season.

But even if they should convince Arsenal to sell Willock, the Magpies would still want to recruit Barkley as well.

Fellow Blues midfielder Conor Gallagher is also an option for Steve Bruce.
