Sunderland boss Bruce confirms Man Utd talks for Welbeck

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has confirmed talks are planned with Manchester United for striker Danny Welbeck.

Welbeck has been part of his club's pre-season tour of the USA.

"We will have a conversation when Man United get back from the USA and see if we can make progress there," Bruce told the Sunderland Echo.

"It's something I'm still very keen on but the transfer window closes at the end of August, not this week, so there is time for things to develop.

"Last year we did our best business in the last week or so with Darren Bent and Michael Turner, so there will be more to-ing and fro-ing to come. We are all jostling for position."
