Inter Milan have accepted defeat in the battle for Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta.

The Spain veteran is pushing to be released from the final year of his Chelsea contract.

Inter have been in talks with Azpilicueta and were aiming to bring the defender to Italy.

However, it's now emerged Azpilicueta is ready to sign a two-year deal tabled by Atletico Madrid.

TMW says he defender had said 'yes' to Inter's proposal only days ago before Atletico made their interest known. He is now set to pen terms with Atletico this week.
