Former France international Mikael Silvestre has signed with MLS club Portland Timbers.
Timbers owner Merritt Paulson posted on Twitter that the 35-year old former Manchester United and Arsenal defender has signed with the club on what is believed to be a two-year deal.
"Barring visa hiccups, we've signed M. Silvestre. Will provide terrific leadership & had great chemistry w players/coaches during stay with us," Paulson wrote.
He then added: "Welcome to the Rose City, @IamMSilvestre! We look forward to getting you and your family here soon."
