The Sun says the Tigers are targeting St Johnstone goal-machine May to replace Matty Fryatt.
The Scotland under-21 star notched 27 goals last season in 48 appearances and looks to be a real strike threat up front.
Fryatt ended the season as Hull City's top scorer in all competitions but joined Nottingham Forest on a free transfer, with the guarantee of first-team football.
