Wood could miss crucial Burnley fixtures after New Zealand decision

Burnley forward Chris Wood may miss two Premier League games in March.

The World Cup qualifying format for Oceania was confirmed, and New Zealand international Wood wants to help his nation reach the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

According to Lancs Live, given the Oceania qualifying has not started, the Kiwis will have to play some matches outside of regular international breaks.

That means Wood could ask to leave for national team commitments, even though Burnley would be within their rights to hold onto him.

The Premier League club are in the thick of a relegation battle, and manager Sean Dyche would loathe to lose an important player for even a few games at the business end of the season.
