Wigan Athletic are set to beat Stoke City for Hamburg defender Michael Mancienne.
The former Chelsea player is available from HSV and keen to return to England.
The Daily Mail says the 26-year-old has also been courted by Stoke City but Wigan boss Uwe Rosler hopes to strike a deal on Friday.
