Newcastle United are eyeing Gremio striker Everton Soares.

Foot Mercato says Newcastle have tabled a loan offer to Gremio for Everton with an option to buy should he impress. The permanent option offered is worth €45m.

However, the deal falls short for what Gremio are seeking. The Brazilians want a higher fee to sell and are also insisting the permanent option be obligatory.

On Tyneside, there's a confidence of an agreement - so much so that talks have commenced with Everton's minders over personal terms.

Interestingly, it was confirmed Newcastle chief scout Steve Nickson had spent several weeks in South America over the past month - including time in Brazil.
