Newcastle United are eager to re-sign Nabil Bentaleb.

The midfielder joined Newcastle in January on-loan from Schalke, where the deal included a permanent option for around €12m.

However, Kicker says Newcastle hope to talk down that price to half that figure.

Bentaleb, 25, has no plans of returning to Schalke for preseason and instead is insisting they allow him to move on.

His current deal now has less than 12 months to run.
