AS Monaco have failed with a bid for Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Foot Mercato says Lokonga, 23, was the subject of an €8m offer from Monaco.

But the bid was rejected, though ASM may return before next week's transfer deadline falls.

The Gunners are open to loan departure for Lokonga, though Monaco would prefer an outright deal.

The Belgian's contract runs until 2026.
