Manchester United only contacted Bayern Munich regarding Marcel Sabitzer on deadline day.
The Red Devils discovered that midfielder Christian Eriksen would be out until April.
United worked quickly to secure midfielder Sabitzer on loan before the transfer window closed.
Per Manchester Evening News, United have signed him on a straight loan with no buy option.
The 28-year-old has a contract at Bayern until 2025, but is delighted to get a chance at regular game time with United for the rest of this season.
Sabitzer may even want to earn a permanent deal at United, given he is a bit part player at Bayern.
