Ex-Arsenal defender Nico Yennaris ready to declare for China

Former Arsenal and Brentford defender Nico Yennaris is ready to declare for China.

Yennaris has changed his name to Li Ke and hopes to debut for China after moving to Beijing Sinobo Guoan in January.

The London-born midfielder, who played with Tottenham ace Harry Kane in the Gunners academy, has become the first naturalised player to score in the Chinese Super League, says The Sun.

In January, Beijing Guoan sealed a £5m deal with Brentford for the midfielder and he moved to the Far East, where he is now learning the language as well as the national anthem.

And now, known in Asia as Li Ke, Yennaris is set to debut for China alongside Norwegian-Born John Jou Saeter.

The former Arsenal ace will be eligible to accept a call-up despite playing for England youth sides in the past as he has never featured for the Three Lions senior team.
