Arsenal have expressed interest in Barcelona wing-back Alejandro Balde.

Sport says Arsenal and Newcastle United have enquired about the possibility of landing Balde.

The 19-year-old left-back has broken through into the Barcelona first-team, having graduated from the club's fabled La Masia academy, and has become a regular figure in manager Xavi's La Liga side.

However, his performances in Spain appear to have caught the eye of Premier League clubs with Arsenal and Newcastle keen to test whether Barcelona would be willing to sell one of their prized assets.

The Premier League duo have been encouraged to make an approach for the full-back with his current deal expiring in 2024 and Barcelona still in the crux of their financial crisis.
