Emery utters first words after Aston Villa training session

Spanish coach Unai Emery gave his first words as Aston Villa manager after his appointment.

The ex-Arsenal and Villarreal coach was appointed last week after leaving the Spanish club with immediate effect.

Emery, who has won three consecutive Europa League titles and Ligue 1 in his career, will be hoping to guide Villa up the league table after replacing Steven Gerrard.

With his first press conference set to take place as Villa boss, Emery stated on Twitter: “Day I. Big challenge ahead. As big as the greatness of @AVFCOfficial."

There will be several coaches joining Emery's backroom staff at Villa, including Javi Garcia to replace goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler.

One who will remain in his present role, per Villa, is set piece coach Austin MacPhee.
