Birmingham youngster McPike admits Kapo gift brings new pressure

James McPike admits Birmingham City teammate Olivier Kapo's gesture in gifting him a Mercedes has heaped fresh pressure on his young shoulders.

"I've had so much mickey-taking, not so much about the car, but the fact I've been referred to as a 'boot boy'," McPike told the Birmingham Mail.

"There's no such thing in football any more and I signed a professional contract when I was 17.

"And to be honest, although it's great to be driving round in the Merc, I don't want to be known as 'that lad who got Kapo's car'.

"Next season is a big one for me. I want to try and get myself in and around the first team squad, or perhaps go out on loan to make a name for myself."
