Portsmouth transfer ban still stands

Portsmouth are yet to have their transfer ban lifted.

The Sun says Portsmouth have still not been cleared to re-enter the transfer market despite securing a £10million loan.

Chairman Sulaiman Al-Fahim insists boss Paul Hart will have money to spend in January after the club borrowed the funds from Hong Kong-based tycoon Balram Chainrai to help ward off the threat of administration.

But Premier League chiefs will not lift the ban until they receive proof Pompey have finally paid off £3m debts to Arsenal and Chelsea over Lassana Diarra and Glen Johnson respectively.

Executive director Mark Jacob, appointed to the Pompey board when Ali Al-Faraj bought the club from Al Fahim last month, insisted: "This loan will put the club on a sure footing."
