Jose Luis Mendilibar is delighted to be back in football with Alaves.
Mendilibar took charge this week after the dismissal of Javi Calleja.
The veteran coach said, "When you are still or stop, it seems that you are going to be standing still for a long time, but over time you want to train: you're back in your day, you're watching football ... When Alavés called us, we saw an opportunity to be in the Primera Division again and a great opportunity to do good things."
He also stated: "The objective now is clear: it is to stay up, stay in the Primera Division, that is what we come for. The most important thing is to play as we want, and if we convince ourselves of that, things will surely turn out well.
"Today is the second day of training, hard training, and convincing people, players, that we can get out of the situation we are in, and that's part of our job, convincing people."
