Charlie Adam: First Liverpool training session had me panicking

Reading midfielder Charlie Adam has recalled his first nervous days with Liverpool.

Adam, who is now in the Championship with Reading, switched from relegated Blackpool to Liverpool in the summer of 2011.

"The first training session, I was nervous, and every time I gave the ball away I was thinking 'these must think I'm sh**e'," he told the Liverpool Echo. "But the more you train and the more you get used to it, it becomes comfortable and natural. It was a great time.

“The lads were top players. Fortunately, being at Rangers had helped me, but going to Liverpool was brilliant."

Adam added: "I was nervous, and obviously when I went there, Stevie (Gerrard) played in my position, midfield, and I was quite in awe of him. I'd played against him and he was a top player.

“But he was a great guy, that was one thing about him, he was really welcoming."
