Burnley boss Sean Dyche happy with friendly double header

Burnley boss Sean Dyche was happy with their double header this weekend.

Dyche praised his players after a tough week on the training ground ended with two more valuable run-outs at Port Vale and Crewe.

The Clarets split into two camps for their trips south, with one team coming from behind to win 3-1 at Vale Park while Crewe beat the Clarets 1-0 at Gresty Road.

And Dyche feels the fast-track approach will benefit his squad as pre-season intensifies ahead of the Premier League season.

He said: “The idea of two games together is something we've enjoyed in the past few years.

“Three or four seasons ago we got to the final pre-season game and felt there were players who still hadn't locked in the minutes they need.

“So in the past couple of seasons we've had these games and got the minutes in early. Today was a really good day for my group and I'll find out more about the other group at Crewe when I speak to my staff, but the players have done well and credit to Port Vale in the first half.

“They were really on the front foot, which is what we want. They looked fit and strong and delivered a good performance."
