Man Utd continue with pursuit of Roma's Strootman, Aston Villa's Vlaar

Manchester United could still bring in two new players in the winter transfer window according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News suggests that United boss Louis van Gaal is continuing with his pursuit for AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman and could also make a move for Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar.

24-year old Dutch defensive midfielder Strootman has been linked with a possible move to Old Trafford for months now but Roma persist in saying he is not for sale at any price.

However, the report alludes to ex-Oranje boss van Gaal wanting to reunite with the Holland international who has only recently returned from the serious knee injury which kept him out of the 2014 World Cup.

Also on the radar of the Red Devils for January is Villa centre-back Vlaar who comes out of contract at the end of the season.

Vlaar, also a Holland international, is being tracked by Italian champions Juventus and would cost around £12million.
