Burnley boss Kompany: We'll learn from FA Cup defeat

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany says they must not dwell on their FA Cup quarterfinal defeat at Manchester City.

The Championship leaders were thrashed 6-0 with Erling Haaland scoring a hat-trick.

Kompany said: "The only thing I can say is that [the defeat] takes nothing away from what the lads have done so far [this season]. It's been a really good experience. As much as it annoys me, I think there are a lot of positives to get out of the first half. Afterwards we just came up against the better side.

"They're a good team. In the beginning they weren't at their best and maybe we poked them a bit and woke them up. I'm not saying this game could have gone any differently, but this team can learn a lot from this game.

"What typifies us at Burnley is this typical drive to improve. We have to have an absolute focus on getting better. No rest, use any moment you have to get better.

On Haaland, he added: "My defenders are quick, all of them. As an experienced defender I know exactly where he's going, but he's that quick. Good strikers make it seem like every rebound lands at their feet, and he's one of them."
