Michael Farfan has confirmed that he has departed Mexican club Cruz Azul.
The 26-year old San Diego native has exited the Estadio Azul just 12 months into his three-year deal after failing to force his way into the Liga MX side's first team.
Former Philadelphia Union attacking midfielder Farfan now has his sights set on dipping his toe in European waters according to an email he sent to MLSsoccer.com.
"I have officially left Cruz Azul," said Farfan. "I am a free agent, so as of now I am weighing my options.
He added that he was "exploring a couple of options in Scandinavia, and Switzerland as well."
During his time with Cruz Azul, ex-Union ace Farfan made just one appearance in which he scored a goal in the Liga MX Clausura against Pachuca.
