Ex-Fulham star Sidwell thrilled to join Stoke

Steve Sidwell was over the moon after completing his move to Stoke City on Monday.

The 31-year old midfielder signed a two-year deal with the Potters after coming out of contract with Fulham and was quick to speak highly of his new club.

Sidwell, who was also a target for Leicester City and West Ham United, told Sky Sports that he was delighted to make the move to the Britannia Stadium to play under Mark Hughes.

"Obviously a big factor was the manager itself under Mark Hughes and his team," he said.

"I worked with them before at Fulham briefly.

"I was with (Potters first team coach) Eddie Niedzwiecki when I was at Arsenal as a youngster. So I knew what I was going to be getting day-to-day from them and obviously the club itself.

"It's a club that I've respected over many years. Coming up to the Britannia and playing there has always been a hard game but to come out there as the home team will now be a big buzz."
