Napoli have sent young striker Nicolao Dumitru to Empoli on-loan.

Dumitru was born in Sweden to a Romanian father and Brazilian mother, but moved to Italy as a child and grew up in the Empoli youth academy.

He also played for Empoli in Serie B from 2008 to 2010, but his move to Napoli last summer garnered only nine appearances all season.

"Empoli FC announce an agreement has been reached with SSC Napoli for the loan of Nicolao Manuel Dumitru Cardoso, who will join the team tonight for the friendly between Fucecchio and Empoli," read a statement.

"At the end of that match, he will begin pre-season training with the squad at Montecatini Terme."
