I will make sure Amavi gets everything he needs - Aston Villa captain Richards

Aston Villa skipper Micah Richards has stated that he is looking out for the injured Jordan Amavi.

Among the many signings Villa have made in the summer, Amavi has certainly been the most impressive so far and it was a huge blow for the Midlands club after the defender was ruled out for the rest of the season due to a cruciate ligament injury while on international duty for France U21s last month.

Amavi now faces a long road back to recovery and Villa captain Richards has revealed that he is doing everything he can to make the young Frenchman as comfortable as possible.

Richards said: "The news that he is out for the rest of the season was really tough for the team and for Jordan himself. No player wants to get injured and a cruciate ligament is probably one of the worst injuries you can suffer.

"There is not much you can say to him other than to keep working hard and to try and stay positive. I've been there - I was out for eight months with a knee problem earlier in my career and sometimes that long recovery period can be very lonely. He is going to need his friends and family.

"As captain of the club I've also got to make sure Jordan has got everything he needs. It's just a shame that one of the best signings we've made this season is out with an injury but hopefully he'll come back stronger."
