Both teams meet for the first time since January 2024 when the former City claimed a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Julian Alvarez and Rodri. Man City have in fact won each of their last 13 meetings with the Clarets and Parker will seek to change that record.
Are Burnley where they need to be?
He firstly spoke on whether his team are where he expected after the opening five games, as they sit 16th in the table.
"I think we are in a really good place. We've had some really tough and challenging fixtures to start this season, we felt that would be the case from when they were revealed, but we feel we have been hugely competitive and very positive.
"We've had to show some resilience at times, which has been hugely encouraging for me as a manager. We have been posed some tough challenges and have taken some real encouragement from them.
"We have been on the wrong end of a couple of those results in the last minute with two penalties, but overall I'm really pleased with where we are."
No tougher test than the Etihad
Parker next admitted that there are no greater challenges than going to the Etihad to face Pep Guardiola's City side who have had a mixed start to the season so far as they sit 9th in the table.
"I personally don't see many tougher challenges really. They are a football club that have been in and around eliteness for years now, so we have a big challenge ahead of us for sure.
"We have come through tricky fixtures already this season though, so that fills me with confidence. However, there's no doubt we are coming up against a colossus of a team - we understand that.
"At times we will have to suffer, but we will adopt a confidence and a belief that we can show the best version of ourselves and hopefully cause them problems."
Walker returns to face his old side
Kyle Walker will return to face his old side this weekend where he won 18 trophies and made over 300 appearances over an eight-year career at the Etihad and Parker says his impact with the side has been immense so far.
"He has been massive for us really because of his experience and his quality. We've all seen his quality in a real short period of time.
"The biggest compliment I can pay to him is his reaction to the different environment and different way of playing here.
"When bringing him to Turf Moor, I had absolutely no doubt that he would embrace every bit of it - and he has done that. I've never seen frustration in him, instead I've seen a positive mindset."
Burnley's underdog mentality
Finally, Parker opened up on his relationship with the Burnley supporters and their underdog mentality which could help them survive relegation.
"It is something that is definitely important for me, as well as the football club and the supporters. There is no stronger club than a club where everyone is on the same page and pushing in the right direction.
"We all understand the challenges that football poses and that at times we can lose football matches. There is no knee-jerk reaction, we have a real honest reflection on things. I certainly feel a real togetherness in what we are this year. I understand it and I try to deliver that message constantly to this group.
"We will be the underdogs at times. We are going to have to fight, scrap and do everything in our power to survive in certain moments."
