The Toffees have been busy so far in the market, with midfield a key focus for David Moyes, after spending a combined £60M to bring in Hayden Hackney, Tyrique George, Merlin Rohl and Christian Norgaard.
Brennan Johnson has also arrived from Crystal Palace - as part of a player swap deal with Dwight McNeil heading to Selhurst Park - but Moyes is still without a specialist option to replace departed former club captain Seamus Coleman.
Celtic's Alistair Johnston and West Ham United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka were both rumoured to be on Moyes' wish list - but the latter has since joined Aston Villa on loan - and Crystal Palace's Daniel Munoz has now emerged as an option.
Rohl started in the role in Everton's 2-0 season opening win at home to Palace and Moyes confirmed his priorities for the final days of the window.
"We definitely would like a right-back. We can still play Jake O’Brien at right-back. He's proved, certainly against a lot of the quick boys, that he's really good and he'll give us something if we need it in that position. But he prefers to be a centre back."
