Carvajal is a very important figure in our ‌dressing room,” he ‌told reporters on Wednesday.

“I actually spoke with him yesterday, so I’m aware of what’s going on. He doesn’t have a specific injury, nothing ‌serious, but he needs time to get back to his usual level. We’ll see in the remaining matches whether he truly gets the opportunity and delivers the performances.”

However, as per Fabrizio Romano, the veteran has been left out of the 55 player preliminary squad as he fails to make the cut.

“BREAKING: Dani Carvajal has been left out of Spain squad for the World Cup.

“He’s out of the 55 players list pre-selected by Luis de la Fuente. End of an era. Dani Carvajal out means the end of an era for Spain… and out of contract in June at Real Madrid.”

The 34-year-old has struggled for game-time this season amid competition from Trent Alexander-Arnold and is set to leave Madrid when his contract expires this summer.

Meanwhile, Madrid teammates Dean Huijsen, Fran Garcia and Gonzalo Garcia have been included in the list as the Spanish giants have representation at the tournament.
