With two defeats in two group games, Turkey have been knocked out of the World Cup leading to a horror statistic.

Turkey became the first nation to be eliminated from the 2026 World Cup after playing just two games this summer in what has been a disastrous and short lived campaign.

The side are now guaranteed to finish bottom of their group regardless of their result against the USA, a nation who have won both of their opening games against Paraguay and Australia

Paraguay star Matias Galarza scored 65 seconds into the game, the fastest goal at this year's World Cup as he sealed a win for his country whilst simultaneously sending Turkey home.

Shockingly, Turkey failed to score a single goal despite a combined 62 attempts, the most efforts without scoring in any two-match span in competition history.

Turkey boss Vincenzo Montella, who is likely to face the sack after the tournament, spoke on his team’s wasted chances as they crash out of the competition.

"I have been in football for 35 years; normally it happens once in 50 years, but it happened to us in two matches," he said.

"There are (62) shots in two matches! Not to mention ball possession. Fate was not on our side. I told our footballers to hold their heads up. As they sometimes say, there is nothing beyond destiny.

"I always look at the percentage of hard work and determination of our footballers. I look at their spirit on the field. All of them had incredible determination. They fought until the end in both matches.

"My support for them will be unconditional. No one held back; everyone worked and fought hard. It didn't work, unfortunately."
