The £35m deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson is currently stalled as he is still representing Brazil at the World Cup, meaning his medical cannot be completed until after the competition according to reports.
As United boss Michael Carrick waits patiently for the tournament to finish or for Brazil to be knocked out, he has wasted no time in targeting Santos who has struggled for game time with the Blues.
The Brazilian has only made 47 appearances for Chelsea since moving to Stamford Bridge in 2023. He has also been sent out on loan twice by various managers who didn’t consider him good enough for the first team.
After spending time at on loan at Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg, Santos may be open to a permanent move to United who Fabrizio Romano reports are keen on his signature.
“Manchester United made enquiry to be informed on Andrey Santos situation for midfield, as The Guardian reported.
“Initial talks on player side but no approach or bid to Chelsea yet.
“Understand #CFC consider Andrey NOT untouchable if a good proposal arrives.”
The Brazilian youngster moved from Vasco da Gama for £18M in 2023 and despite no fee being suggested for the midfielder at the present moment, Chelsea are likely to make a profit on him this summer.
Chelsea have reportedly set the asking price of Andrey Santos in the region of £50M as per Sportsmole, but this has not been confirmed by other sources.
