Manchester United have not yet revealed Ederson as their first summer signing due to one obstacle.

United have agreed a £35m deal with Serie A outfit Atalanta for Ederson who is set to become the club’s first summer signing under now permanent manager Michael Carrick.

The Red Devils are seeking to rebuild their midfield but despite links to Mateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson, they are yet to make a move for another players whilst Ederson remains in limbo.

The reason for this is because he is still representing Brazil at the World Cup, meaning his medical cannot be completed until after the competition according to reports.

Ederson told reporters in New York: "Certainly, everything is almost done, but now I have to enjoy this moment. This is a wonderful experience and you have to enjoy it the most."

Romano speaks on Ederson deal

Fabrizio Romano also reassured fans this week, stating that the deal was completed and supporters should not worry that there is a problem stopping the deal from going through.

"They (Man Utd) have a verbal agreement with Atalanta. So the two clubs have an agreement since one month ago.

"But they're waiting for Ederson to have the second part of his medical with Manchester United in England before approving everything.

"So verbal agreement club-to-club, documents prepared, first part of the medical (done) but waiting on the second part of the medical, the official one with Manchester United. That's why Ederson to Man Utd is not official yet."

Bournemouth midfielder in Tyler Adams and Brighton's Carlos Baleba have also been linked with Old Trafford but the club have been slow this summer as the season quickly approaches.
