The Reds are currently stepping up attempts to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer in what would not only be a club record but also a British transfer record fee of around £120M. However, as the Isak drama continues, Liverpool have locked eyes with another top striker.
According to journalist and transfer insider Ben Jacobs, Wright is on manager Arne Slot’s transfer wish list after impressing last season.
“Liverpool pushing to sign Salford City striker Will Wright for a six-figure sum.
“Several Premier League clubs interested, but #LFC currently in advanced talks.”
Salford, a club co-owned by Manchester United legends Gary Neville and David Beckham would be hesitant to sell their greatest talent to Liverpool but it would be hard to keep him at the club if an offer does come in this summer.
No deal has been submitted for the 17-year-old wonderkid who made his senior debut for Salford City against Pep Guardiola's side in the 8-0 FA Cup defeat in January. However, a deal is likely to be launched soon for the youngster who is one of the youngest players ever to debut for the League Two side.
Arsenal, Brentford, Leicester City, and Burnley have all kept tabs on Wright who scored over 50 goals at all levels for Salford last season but it looks like Liverpool are leading the race as they sign two top class strikers before the season begins.
