West Ham United striker Callum Wilson is set to stay at the club following constant transfer rumours this month.

The former England international stepped off the bench to find the winner against Tottenham over the weekend, pushing the Hammers closer to escaping the relegation zone after a shocking start to the season.

Reports stated that Wilson was is in talks to terminate his West Ham contract this month as the club lose faith in the 33-year-old, who turns 34 next month.

However, after his goal against Spurs, journalist Ben Jacobs reports that he has been given a lifeline as West Ham desperately try to find a player to help guide the team away from a drop to the Championship.

“Callum Wilson, set to stay at West Ham following his late winner at Tottenham on Saturday, as @ExWHUEmployee called.

“West Ham and Wilson had started talks to terminate, but the former Newcastle striker is now expected to remain at West Ham.

Celtic and Al-Shabab, two clubs who have been exploring a move this winter.”

West Ham clearly see Wilson as an experienced striker who can help lead the side in the second half of the season, rather than a burden on the bench.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo will be keen to keep him tied down for now, despite links to rivals Everton, who are in need of firepower as their toothless attack continues to hold the club back this season.
