Rodri completed his £65.4m move to Barcelona earlier this month and the World Cup and Ballon d’Or winner leave a huge gap to fill in the City midfield as manager Enzo Maresca desperately tries to find a replacement.
His moves comes as Tijjani Reijnders also completed a move to Al-Qadsiah, leaving City without two key midfielders ahead of their first Premier League clash against Bournemouth this Sunday.
City have been linked with Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez as well as Lille star Bouaddi. Speaking with Stake, Aguero believes the young Moroccan could fill in for Rodri and he has shown immense maturity despite being just 18 years old.
“Elliot Anderson had an excellent season last year, which also earned him a starting place for England during the World Cup. He’s very dynamic, a box-to-box midfielder who can shoot, get forward and create chances. He can be very important for the team.
“The same goes for Ayyoub Bouaddi. He performed at a very high level at the World Cup. Despite his age, he showed incredible maturity when playing out from the back. He has all the qualities to be a great replacement for Rodri, who was always vital for City.”
Reports claim Bouaddi is waiting for the green light to travel to England to take his medical. The youngster is very keen on the move and now it is down to the finances on the deal between the two clubs as City swiftly try to replace Rodri before the transfer window slams shut in 10 days.
