Rashford impressed on loan in Catalonia in the 2025/26 campaign with 14 goals across all competitions as Hansi Flick retained his La Liga title.
However, despite Rashford’s open declaration over wanting to stay in Spain, the ongoing financial difficulties at Barcelona have made it difficult to meet Manchester United’s £35M asking price for the 28-year-old.
Barcelona appear to be prioritising other areas of the squad, with a €70M deal for Anthony Gordon also blocking their eagerness to sign Rashford, as Flick looks to bring in two defenders.
Rashford will reassess his options after the FIFA World Cup, but his future could hinge on Raphinha’s intentions, amid rumours of a fresh offer from the Saudi Pro League for the Brazilian.
Raphinha has previously confirmed he rejected a move to Saudi in 2024, but he could be tempted by a mega-money contract proposal, and a fee in the region of €50m would release funds for Barcelona to approach United over Rashford.
The club have already confirmed Robert Lewandowskii’s departure following the expiration of his contact at the Camp Nou and the veteran Poland international is considering offers from clubs in the USA
