Gordon completed a bold €80M transfer switch from Newcastle United to Barcelona ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in a deal which places Rashford’s own club future in an awkward position.
Rashford netted 14 goals as part of a superb season-long loan with Hansi Flick’s LaLiga champions in the 2025/26 campaign – but Barca opted against activating a £26m clause to sign him permanently from Manchester United.
The frustrated star admitted he wanted his future resolved before joining up with England's World Cup squad and he remains determined to go back to Spain instead of a Premier League transfer.
Despite the potential of fighting for the same starting spot next season – if Rashford does return to Barca – Gordon has revealed how supportive he’s been during their World Cup camp together.
“He congratulated me as soon as he saw me. He's been a huge help. I'm looking for a house and he's given me some information about Barcelona, which is really useful.
“We're competing for a place, and that's football. It's always going to be like that at the elite level. I have no problem with it, and I'm sure he doesn't either.”
Gordon also appears to have the edge in Thomas Tuchel’s plans, with three World Cup starts so far compared to Rashford’s two, and the former Everton winger looks set to retain his spot as England take on Norway in the quarterfinals in Miami.
