Liverpool made their move for Newcastle United target Ekitike earlier this week after being told Newcastle's Alexander Isak is not for sale despite their record breaking ambitions. The Frenchman has joined on a six-year deal and he will undergo his medical on Tuesday as reported by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
“Hugo Ekitike lands on Merseyside today ahead of medical tests on Tuesday as new Liverpool player.
“6 year contract ready, as Ekitike only wanted #LFC despite Eintracht waiting for more clubs to join the race last week.”
The arrival of the 23 year old will push Liverpool’s spending over 300M this summer in what is a massive squad overhaul that has included the likes of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Armin Pecsi, plus freebie Freddie Woodman.
Ekitike scored 22 goals in 48 games across all competitions last season for Frankfurt as he helped them qualify for the Champions League and will now hope to complete his medical this week before joining the squad on their preseason tour of Asia which begins this weekend against AC Milan before they face Yokohama FM on July 30th.
