AS Monaco appoint Dennis Schmitt as youth team manager

Schmitt arrives after a spell as interim manager of Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt and will lead Monaco’s elite youth squad during the 2026/27 campaign. 

He will be assisted by former professional defender Sofyane Cherfa, who made more than 300 senior appearances during his playing career.

Traore oversaw the Groupe Élite team during last season’s UEFA Youth League campaign, but Monaco’s youth side will not feature in the competition this season after the club’s first team failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. 

Schmitt now takes charge as Monaco continue the development of their next generation of talent.
