Tottenham have splashed the cash this summer, snapping up the likes of Andy Robertson, Marcos Sensesi, Jan Paul van Hecke and reportedly Mateus Fernandes in a reported £85M deal plus Sandro Tonali in a deal worth £92M.
The North London side are making dramatic improvements and have this week decided not to activate the purchase option in Palhinha's loan agreement from Bayern Munich.
This means the playmaker will return to Germany in what is a sad farewell. Palhinha spoke to fans on social media in a lengthy statement which confirms his time with Spurs is over.
“Dear COYS, I am writing this message with heartfelt gratitude for all the kindness and support you have always shown me throughout my time at this special club.
“Representing Tottenham has had a profound impact on my life, not only professionally but also personally, and it is something I will carry with me forever.
He continued: “London gave me more than a professional career, it gave me two homes that I will always carry in my heart.
“With the utmost respect and gratitude, I say goodbye to all of you. Thank you so much COYS.”
The 30-year-old is under contract until 2028 and a move to Sporting has been suggested for the midfielder who is very unlikely to stay at Bayern ahead of the new campaign.
