Tuchel's predecessor Gareth Southgate led England to back-to-back UEFA European Championship finals in 2021 and 2024 before respective losses to Italy and Spain.
The call to replace Southgate with Tuchel at the start of 2025 was motivated by the FA's confidence of the former Chelsea head coach having the experience and steel to get this squad over the finishing line in a final.
After storming through qualification with eight wins from eight, England are among the favourites to win the World Cup next month, but they face challenges from all sides.
One of the main criticisms levelled at Tuchel has been England's style of play under his leadership, after they ended qualification as the only European team not to concede a single goal on route to the World Cup, with some observers labelling the team as uninspiring.
That view is not shared by Tuchel, after England scored four times in their opening win over Croatia, and the German is prepared to be as boring as needed to achieve success.
"We know the capability and potential of the players. We believe and trust in this group. Facing Ghana is the only thing in our minds and we take it step by step, as boring as this may sound, but this is the way to go."
A gritty approach has served England well up to this point and victory over Ghana would qualify Tuchel for the knockouts ahead of schedule.
