It will be a very tough game for Tuchel to command on Wednesday night and as he prepares his side, Rooney has spoken on as he pleads with the German coach to start one Manchester United star in the middle.
"I'd go with Declan Rice sitting, and I'd go with (Kobbie) Mainoo and Jude Bellingham.
"Mainoo can give you a bit of both, but in tight areas, that's Mainoo's biggest strength - his feet in tight areas, and then he has got a little pass.
"I think he's the only one who is capable of doing that in those tight areas."
On tactics going forward: "Against a team with a low block you can play Bellingham deeper. He's a player with intensity, desire and drive.
"Morgan Rogers is better suited with his back to goal than (Jude) Bellingham. Against bigger teams you'll see Jude in that position."
Tuchel is yet to oversee a competitive loss at the England helm, winning 10 and drawing one of his 11 games so far.
The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss is one of the best coaches on the planet but as he rotates his side, he may listen to Rooney’s advice.
