Man United midfielder Manuel Ugarte is reportedly set for an extended injury lay-off with a knee ligament injury.

The 25-year-old had to be stretchered off during Uruguay’s 1-0 World Cup Group H game against Spain on Friday (June 26).

Ugarte appeared to land awkwardly when going in for a challenge on Spain midfielder Pedri, moments before Luis de la Fuente’s side opened the scoring.

Now, per The Athletic, Ugarte is set for a lengthy injury lay-off with a knee ligament injury, although the exact timeframe is yet to be determined.

The midfielder, who had been expected to leave Man United this summer, is undergoing tests to determine the severity of his injury.
