Seven points picked up from three games saw England land as Group L winners as a rotated starting team won 2-0 against Panama in New Jersey.
However, Chelsea captain Reece James missed out due to a hamstring problem, and his replacement Jarrel Quansah was forced off with an ankle issue in the second half.
Both players now face a real battle to be fit in time to take on DR Congo in Atlanta on July 1 with Tottenham's Djed Spence backed to fill in as needed.
The lack of specialist options at right-back remains a major talking point for England fans, after Tuchel opted to call up Trevoh Chalobah after Tino Livramento pulled out with a pre-tournament injury, and omitted Trent Alexander-Arnold entirely.
Trent has endured a mixed first season at Real Madrid, but with his quality in possession, former England right-back Micah Richards believes the call could come back to haunt Tuchel in the weeks ahead.
"This all comes back to the situation with not picking Trent. Trent Alexander-Arnold should be there for England at the World Cup," he told BBC Sport.
"Against Panama, England were playing a centre-back at right-back in Quansah. And when you're talking about breaking down defensive teams, he's got the quality to do that.
"If Trent was there, he could provide that bit of quality that's been missing."
